The New York Film Academy (NYFA) is considered the best hands-on visual & performing arts college in the world. NYFA was founded on the philosophy that “learning by doing” combined with best industry practices is more valuable than years of theoretical study for film, media, and performing arts students. This educational model allows students to achieve more in less time than at other institutions.

The Original Hands-on Film, Media, and Performing Arts School

NYFA enlisted Big Drop's expertise to revamp and rebrand their existing website with the goal of optimizing it for discovery, humanizing and modernizing the site, and simplifying navigation. The objective was to ensure that audiences are presented with relevant information that caters to their specific needs in a visually engaging manner.

When developing NYFA's new digital presence, Big Drop aimed to highlight the true value of NYFA, which is founded on the philosophy of "learning by doing" combined with best industry practices. To achieve this, the website was designed to showcase NYFA’s innovative learning methods, with optimized content presented in a manner that facilitates easy digestion of information. The goal was to encourage prospective students and parents to explore the site further and learn more about NYFA.

To facilitate information discovery and create user journeys that effectively conveyed the academy's story and history, we devised an information architecture strategy that presented information in a digestible manner. By leveraging NYFA's premium positioning and bringing it to life on the new digital platform, Big Drop provided updated branded content that helped cultivate the image of the world's best hands-on visual and performing arts college.

After implementing an information architecture strategy that established a clean foundation for content, we proceeded to update all branding collateral, including value proposition, typography, logo, color usage, and brand application. In doing so, we created dynamic custom illustrations that ensured the site remained visually engaging, along with select interactive features. By incorporating iconography and other multimedia elements, we were able to break up the text and keep users engaged, informed, and on the site longer.

One of NYFA's primary objectives was to create a user experience that effectively communicated the academic programs to the audience and provided a clear path for users to apply. To achieve this, we leveraged proof points and student success stories, along with a robust information architecture, to evoke a sense of excitement in the audience. By emphasizing NYFA's clean and authoritative position as a creative, cutting-edge arts institution, we kept users engaged as they were guided towards the Apply Now CTA and eventual conversion.

We achieved this by leveraging purposeful content usage, simplified navigation and resource discovery, and optimized best-in-class technology.
