Case Study: Federated National
Federated National underwrites homeowners’ multi-peril, federal flood and various other lines of insurance in Florida. Federated National also underwrites homeowners’ and dwelling fire policies in other southern U.S. regions through its partnership with SageSure Insurance Managers. FedNat affiliated companies are licensed and have the facilities to market and underwrite other insurance carriers’ lines of business, as well as to process and adjust claims for third party insurance carriers.
FedNat was looking to address their scalability and redundancy. They wanted a hosted solution to manage their growing insurance companies and to ensure that they would be responsive to an ever increasing number of hurricanes in the southern U.S. Specifically, they were concerned about the reliability of their website during a particularly heavy hurricane season.
Upon assessing the situation, the Big Drop team realized that the client would need round the clock monitoring and maintenance during these upcoming peak periods in order to ensure 24/7 uptime. Zero downtime was the name of the game.
When Hurricane Matthew was approaching Florida in the fall of 2016, FedNat was nervous that the server would not be able to handle the influx of traffic to their flood insurance pages and, they were unsure of the magnitude of the inquiries. Our solution was to devise a scalable plan that would allocate additional servers automatically, regardless of traffic to the site to ensure 100% uptime.
FedNat ended up receiving an insurgence of traffic that was manageable through Big Drop’s round the clock monitoring and 24/7 uptime procedure. Without this dedication, the site could have been down periodically for weeks following the hurricane. FedNat was able to provide their customers the support they needed.
